Design Process
Project Questionnaire
Many elegant cellar solutions appear simple and can be produced quickly. There is however, quite a bit of work involved in the precise calculation of price and capacity. This calculation can only be generated by creating a factory order in our manufacturing code and producing a system quote encompassing all variables of the rack designed specifically for your project. Even after this arduous calculation, we must perform final calculations again in order to allow for finished room dimensions and design changes, prior to manufacturing. The detailed list of parts, sub-assemblies, and special products that make up even a small cellar can fill several pages and take days or weeks to produce.

Because we advise on construction and refrigeration solutions worldwide, we have developed some fairly detailed cellar construction guidelines. We offer these specifications to our clients as a part of our service. In addition, we also provide specific consultation for precise location and selection of lights and special artifacts in each cellar as required. We will be happy to work with your architects, designers, and contractors as required to complete your project properly.
For some cellars, even though they may be on the other side of the world, we must make a site visit and meet the client. We must, therefore, regretfully change our procedure for designing wine cellars at no charge, due to the overwhelming demand on Paul Wyatt Designs, as a result of the continuing complexity and size of the many projects they are working on.

To begin working on your project we will require fully dimensioned drawings or sketches if possible, full client contact information, current state of the project, and anticipated completion schedule. Following our evaluation and acceptance of the commission, we will require a design fee of $3,000. This fee, less out of pocket expenses such as Federal Express charges and travel expenses during the design phase, will be fully offset against the cost of the project upon completion. Should expenses consume the fee we will ask for additional deposits. This design fee does not constitute the working deposit.
Immediately upon receipt of your design fee we will begin to build a file and send you information and documents, as they become available, regarding your project for review and feedback.
